July 11th &July 15th
The “Friends of Robinson State Park” will be hosting informational
walks
in Robinson State Park in Agawam on Tuesday, July 11, at 6:30PM
& Saturday July 15, at 10 AM and 5 PM.
The purpose of these walks will be to educate the interested public about
protecting the second growth trees of this 852 acre park, and to discuss
how the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ proposed timber sale of 133 acres
of soft and hard woods within the park will affect the overall health of
this beautiful forest.
Please bring water and wear appropriate footwear and clothing for these
60-90 minute hikes. Trails are easy to moderate. Meet at the Main
Entrance of Robinson State Park on North Street, Agawam. Only hard rain
will cancel these walks.
Large groups (over 15 individuals) ie: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.
please call 413-789-1744 to arrange private tours.
Please join the “Friends of Robinson State Park” in protecting
this
Massachusetts treasure.

April 22nd 2006
On
Saturday, April 22, we will meet again at 8:30 a.m. at Pynchon
Point. We will work this time to clear the overgrown brush and
fallen trees from the area. Once again, long pants and sleeves
are recommended. Please bring rakes, clippers, and chainsaws, if
you have them. Refreshments will be provided.
Do something good for Agawam- celebrate Earth Day- enjoy the great outdoors!
Thanks again to all who helped- we couldn’t have done it without you.
We hope to see you on Saturday the 22nd.

Pynchon Point Clean Up Big Success
Celebrate Earth Day Saturday, April 22nd
The Pynchon Point clean-up was a huge success this past Saturday. Thank you
so much to each and every one of our hard-working volunteers. Special thanks
go to Tommy Russo, of Russo Construction, who provided the Bobcat, and Bruce
Cooper who drove it so well. Thank you also to Ferrentinos Pizzeria for providing
lunch for the volunteers.
We filled a 30 yard dumpster (provided by the Agawam DPW) with trash that included
couches, chairs, a refrigerator, carpets, and many more interesting items.
Check out the before and after pictures to see the amazing results. It was
a beautiful day for a very worthwhile effort.
.
But we’re not quite done and we could really use your help! We will meet
again this coming Saturday April 22, beginning at 8:30 a.m. to continue where
we left off last week. So please come celebrate Earth Day by joining us, meeting
your neighbors and enjoying the great outdoors!
The area is now well on its way to becoming a lovely family riverfront recreation
area. With your help, Agawam will again be able to claim Pynchon Point as the
jewel it once was.Go to www.agawamcard.com for more pictures and further details.
Thanks again to all who helped- we couldn’t have done it without you.
We hope to see you on Saturday the 22nd.
